Polis Defends Lowering Preschool Teacher Requirements, Says It’s “Small Piece” of State’s Expansion Plan

Colorado is facing a significant challenge in developing the early care and learning workforce to be able to meet the needs of its proposed universal pre-K program. Last week, Governor Jared Polis spoke about his administration’s lowering of teacher requirements, an effort to recruit more educators, and some rising concerns about how these standards affect preschool quality.
