Catherine Portillo serves as Development and Communications Manager at Early Milestones Colorado, where she leads fundraising and communications efforts in support of the organization’s programs and mission.
Catherine brings a background in communications, youth development, and grant program management. She has directed large-scale public communications initiatives, grown organizational platforms and audiences, and worked alongside grantmakers — experience that shapes how she thinks about building relationships with funders and partners alike. Her English degree and years of storytelling work inform how she translates complex early childhood issues into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Before joining Early Milestones, Catherine led intervention and mentoring programs focused on student and family success, and pioneered efforts to expand post-secondary access for underserved communities — work rooted in a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys hiking, travel, and being the ultimate aunt to her nephews, alongside her rescue dog Luigi and cat Pepper.
