Researching the impact of COVID-19 on Colorado's early childhood industry.

We need your help.

If you are a licensed child care provider, an early educator, or a parent/guardian of a child 12 or younger, please follow these instructions to participate in the study. Your answers will inform policy and funding decisions, as well as efforts to sustain our state’s early childhood sector.

This effort is in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Early Childhood, the Office of Governor Jared Polis, and other early childhood stakeholders.

If you are a child care provider…

All licensed and Head Start/Early Head Start providers should receive a link to the survey via email. We are seeking information about your program’s open/close status and capacity, operational & instructional adaptations, health precautions, and use of/need for supportive resources.

If you are the director of record for your program and believe you did not receive this email (as of July 3), please fill out this form to be sent an individualized survey link.

Each provider who participates will be eligible to win one of 15 $100 gift cards.

 

If you are an early childhood educator registered in PDIS…

Educators registered in the PDIS system will receive a link to the survey automatically. We are seeking information about employment status; financial well-being; and needed instructional, health, and operational supports for those who are back in the classroom. The survey will be available in English and Spanish.

If you are a PDIS-registered educator and believe you did not receive this email (as of July 3), please fill out this form to receive a custom survey link.

Each PDIS-registered educator to participate in this study will receive one professional development hour and be eligible to win a $100 gift card.

 

If you are an early childhood educator not registered in PDIS…

Fill out this form to receive a link for an anonymous version of the educator survey.

Each educator who participates in the anonymous survey will be entered to win one of 10 $100 gift cards.

 

If you are the parent/guardian of a child 12 or younger…

We will begin distributing the family survey, available in English and Spanish the week of June 29. We are seeking information about child care needs, COVID-related health precautions taken by their child care providers, financial well-being, and the use of family support services. Each family that participates will be eligible to win one of 20 $100 gift cards.

Who is conducting this research?

Early Milestones Colorado is leading the collection and analysis of data obtained. We are partnering with university and contract researchers with expertise in early childhood systems for additional analyses as needed. A wide variety of early childhood stakeholder groups are also assisting with recruitment and promotion of the study.

 

How will my answers be used?

Early Milestones will provide aggregate or grouped data and summaries to the office of Governor Jared Polis, the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Early Childhood, state and local policy-makers, early childhood councils, family resource centers, and a number of other industry partners. Each will use this research to better understand the impact of the pandemic on child care providers, educators, and families; and your responses will help to inform important policy and budget decisions throughout the sector.

It is possible that a quote from your responses may be used in reports or social media. Any such quote will be presented without information that identifies the individual responder.

 

Who will have access to my personal information?

Your personal information will be accessible only to the Early Milestones research team and its independent contractors, as well as research partners at the University of Denver. We will remove identifying information and group data together before any analysis or publication.

 

Will results from this study be available publicly?

Yes! We intend to develop a variety of reports and resources from this study. Any content we produce will be available on the Early Milestones website and will be distributed electronically to partners, industry stakeholders, and all survey participants.
