“On any given day, about half of scheduled infants come into our office for vaccines. And illnesses and injuries for which parents would have previously sought medical care promptly are now advancing and worsening at home.”

Parents are being more cautious about leaving home with their young children — an understandable response to coronavirus-related fears. But this means that many families are delaying vital vaccination appointments or care for injuries. Edith Bracho-Sanchez, a pediatrician and assistant professor of pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, discusses how COVID-19 has affected pediatric care.
