Taking advantage of an influx of state tax revenue, California Governor Gavin Newsom has proposed a multi-billion investment in making transitional kindergarten available to all of the state’s 4-year-olds. The program would take effect in the 2022-23 school year, and is designed to provide kindergarten readiness support to children and families most in need.
