Nineteen states and the District of Columbia require kindergarten…but only 17 of those states and DC require full-day kindergarten. All Alabama public school districts currently offer kindergarten to children 5 years old as of Sept. 1.
Alabama Representative Pebblin Warren has introduced a new bill to the state legislature which, if passed, would require all students to attend kindergarten as early as this fall. The bill has already received approval from Alabama’s House Education Policy committee.
