Parent and Caregiver Education and Engagement: National Scan

Project: Communicating What Works

Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher. They deserve the best information about how to help their children grow-up valued, healthy and thriving. Many parents not only care for their own children but, through informal care, supervise and support the children of family members and neighbors. In fact, 60% of Colorado’s young children are in informal care settings.

Milestones is conducting a national scan of established efforts to educate parents and caregivers about their vital role in child development and learning. We’re learning about national tools used across settings and communication platforms, as well as comprehensive strategies from leading states.  We hope to support efforts to leverage and coordinate current awareness and education activities throughout Colorado.
